29/09/08 - National Finals Report
After
the terrible weather drag racing in the UK has endured this year it
was wonderful to see the sun shining down on Santa
Pod and the fans turning out in their thousands for the National
Finals. it was even better to see so many Barry Sheavills T-shirts
in the crowd, we don't think we've seen so many in a long time, so
to all of you and everyone who came to say hello over the weekend
we say a huge thank-you for your support.

12/09/08 - Sheavills/Corr for the Nitro Shootout
We
are very pleased to confirm that Barry Sheavills will be racing in
the Nitro Shootout this weekend, Sept 27th/28th, during the National
Finals at Santa Pod Raceway.
Barry will be driving the Rune Fjeld owned Top Fuel Dragster which
Jari Halinen piloted in in this years European Championship. Barry's
crew-chief for the weekend will be the extremely talented and multi-championship
winning Eddie Corr. "Its the first time I have raced with Eddie
tuning the car and calling the shots in the pit" Barry said,
"but I was always very impressed with what he did when he was
with Andy Carter, so I'm really looking forward to it"
At the time of writing the current schedule for Saturday is to run
once around lunchtime and then again around six in the evening which
should mean the crowd get to see some great header flames in the dusk
light. times will be aggregated over the two runs on saturday and
first on sunday, "cannonball style". The two cars with the
lowest aggregate times will face off in the final on sunday evening
(There will also be 3rd and 4th, and 5th and 6th place run offs).
For just once this year the weather looks great for the weekend so
we really hope to see everyone at the track for what should be a great
extra, unexpected dose of nitro!
12/09/08 - Nitro Shootout for the National Finals
Good
news for those of us wanting a bit more nitro burning action in our
lives is that after the poor weather which has affected this years
FIA Championship rounds in the UK, Santa Pod Raceway have added a
Nitro Shootout at the National Finals. The shootout will involve three
Top Fuel Dragsters and three Nitro Funny Cars scheduled over the two
days and to include a night-time session which always makes for an
awesome spectacle.
Keith Bartlett, CEO of Santa Pod said "The weather has been hard
on everyone this season but our fans still deserve to see some top
flight drag racing action. As a gesture of good will we’ve just confirmed
a showcase of some of the best Top Fuel cars to appear at our next
drag racing event Sept 27/28. This event will still host the finals
for the National Championships but adding this Nitro shootout will
make for something a bit special!"
Hopefully we'll have a further news item on this subject over the
next few days!
